Lash eggs result from an infection that causes inflammation of a hen’s oviduct. That inflammation is referred to as Salpingitis. The hen’s immune system reacts to the inflammation by trying to wall-off the infection with a waxy, cheese-like pus. This pus mass may or may not contain yolk, albumen, (egg white) eggshell, egg membrane, blood or pieces of tissue from the oviduct wall, but it is primarily a yellowish, cheesy, pus ball.

Allow them the opportunity to wander out by leaving the door to a protected run open, but let them decide where they want to spend their time.

Litter’s primary functions are to absorb moisture from droppings and water spills, keep odors down and facilitate coop cleaning. The most commonly used litter options are: wood shavings, wood horse stall pellets, sand, hay and straw. I have tried most of them and have concluded that sand is the best choice for all the reasons outlined below.

The average chicken does NOT NEED a sweater. I am first in line to encourage the proper care and keeping of pet chickens and can anthropomorphize my pets with the best of 'em, but the truth is, sweaters do not help backyard chickens and if I believed they did, I would use them and encourage their use.
