Lavender looks nice alone, but particularly with roses. You don't have to do much to it as it will do well during droughts. It's fragrant flowers are nice to have in the garden, and you can cut them and bring them inside. Many people dry them and use them as sachets; their lovely smell stays for a long time. It is one of the best perennials for fragrance. I like the variety 'Hidcote'.
