Meet a Kohlrabi and find out a bit of information about them. This video is purely entertaining with a bit of information placed in there. I thought it to be a more interesting way of showing kohlrabi rather than just more shots of us planting and harvesting it. I'm curious to hear your comments.

http://www.veria.com/ In this video from Veria Living we see What is Organic at Goodwood Estates sits on almost 3,000 acres of land; it's rather large for an organic farm. As a new mother, a cow can produce upwards of 30 liters of milk a day. Newborn calves usually drink only 10 liters a day, though, and a mother cow's milk production will quickly taper off to produce only the 10 liters her calf needs. As such, calves are separated from their mothers mere hours after they are born as a way to keep up milk production. Nathan takes comfort in knowing that these cows are still treated far better than they would be on a traditional commercial farm.

Oliver spent 30 years in bear bile farms being "milked" daily for his bile - a period of time equal to the usual lifespan of a bear. Rescued in 2010 he is now seeing out his "borrowed time" at Animals Asia's sanctuary in Chengdu, China. Following his rescue Oliver was so sick that vets were forced into emergency surgery at the roadside. He wasn't expected to make it, never mind going on to enjoy a retirement where he's finally receiving the care and respect he deserves. Once described by Animals Asia founder Jill Robinson as a "broken bear", Jill has also said that, since his rehabilitation, there's just something about Oliver that suggests he's humming to himself as he wanders around his outdoor enclosure. Here's hoping he's humming a happy tune as be enjoys a surprise left for him by the Animals Asia bear team. More on Animals Asia's work to end bear bile farming here: https://www.animalsasia.org/intl/our-work/end-bear-bile-farming/

This is how most rice is grown in this area of Thailand (North East) There is only one crop per year here so it needs to be a good one, There are much easier ways to do this but the old fashioned way is cheaper and for the most part better yield and better quality of rice.

Windmills have come a long way in the last century, especially now with GE's new technological advances in wind farming. Cutting edge isn't just a phrase when it comes to describing GE's first wind farm in Australia. These wind turbines feature an innovative serrated edge on top of each 50 meter blade section, drastically reducing noise level when in operation. Integrating parts shipped in from all over the world, as far as Brazil and Germany, GE is helping provide Western Australia with a source of renewable clean energy. These green energy giants tower above farms of cereal and flocks of sheep, creating an eye popping new landscape in Mumbida, Western Australia. Watch as GE works to make the world a little better and cleaner, one turbine at a time. Learn more are http://www.ge.com/au.

In one year, a single colony of bees can eat up to 200 pounds of honey. And to produce two pounds of honey, bees travel a distance equal to four trips around the earth. In the Himalayan mountains, honey is so ingrained in the people's lives that they literally harvest it in the walls of their homes.

great769 shows you how to split wood quicker and easier then ever before . This method works with most types of wood, I've split maple , Birch, spruce and fir. If you doing only 5or6 cords a year this is a good little log splitting chopping block, now it won't replace a log splitter and its not intended to. Make sure its covered so the rain doesn't fill the tire so mosquitoes don't use it for a breeding ground. This is a great way to make kindling wood a real back saver and time saver. As we all know burning wood is a great way to reduce our dependence on fossil fuel and its cheaper than oil and with the rising of oil prices this for me is the way to go. http://www.veria.com/ In this video from Veria Living we see What is Organic in permaculture zoning. Permaculture zoning is a labor-saving principle centered around creating an environment where the natural behaviors of all living creatures can be most beneficial to the larger system. This means placing things that work well together close together, whether it's placing a pond in the middle of your garden to attract slug-eating frogs, or planting your fresh vegetables close to your kitchen so you can easily access them.

www.animalsasia.org If only I could speak (Amy-Le Owens) I have spent my life in this cage, incarceration is all I know. The bars clenched tight to my body, they are my tomb and my home. Veiled by terror and sorrow, there is barely room to breathe. To think of anything but the inevitable end would be senseless and naïve. I have seen my friends before me. I've heard their gasping breath. Dragged across the bile stained floor as they arrive at the valley of death. Inside I rage and scream, but externally I cower. For to draw attention to myself would bring closer my final hour. If this is all I'm good for, Just ceaseless, needless pain, then why gift me with a life? Why must I remain? Can't you hear our shouts for justice? Can't you hear our mournful cries? Can't you witness our fear-ridden bodies? Please God won't you open your eyes? I cannot fathom your reasons, behind this sickening game. We all feel hurt and emotions and our hearts they beat the same. People who are so eager, so willing to take a life, if the tables were turned I'm sure you too would beg them to drop the knife. You think you have right of privilege, to do with us what you please, because you have left us defenceless, begging on our knees. If I could only speak, then these are the words I would say. It doesn't take much to realise, that it should never have been this way. Give us a chance to feel safe, let us feel life's glory. Look into my eyes, gaze upon the despair and please listen to the words of my story.

Our viewers are well-familiar with investor and commodities guru Jim Rogers. They know he lives in Singapore and is a China bull. So, we skipped the usual China chit-chat, leaving that for other news outlets. Instead, we chose to focus on what other, smaller players in Asia he may be bullish on. It turns out that the country Jim Rogers is most bullish on, not just in Asia but in the world, is Myanmar, otherwise known as Burma. Our guest from last week, Chris Mayer, of the Daily Reckoning, was recently in Myanmar. He is also bullish on the country, so we decided to probe Jim Rogers a bit further. Rogers told us he would put all of his money in Myanmar if he could. But he didn't stop with Burma. Apparently, there is another country on that list that investors would probably not guess, at least not your casual, run-of-the-mill investor. What country is this? Why, it's North Korea! Jim Rogers lays out his logic for why North Korea will open up and merge with South Korea in the next few years, much of it having to do with the simple fact that the country and its newest leader, Kim Jong-un, see all the progress maid by China in recent decades and are jealous! (a simplification...watch the video for more detail!)

http://www.veria.com/ In this video from Veria Living we see What is Organic in permaculture. Since Angie doesn't need to tend her orchard everynday, it's quite a bit further from her home than her garden. Unlike a typical apple orchard, Angie's orchard incorporates one of the key principles in permaculture: the forest garden. Beneath the apple trees sit a variety of flowers, herbs, and other useful plants.
