Blossomtime in Santa Clara County is a San Jose Chamber of Commerce film made by Charles H. Bowen for the A.L. Castle Company in 1955. This film takes us on a tour of the various fruits and nuts that blossomed each year in the Valley of Heart's Delight, Santa Clara Valley, California. Originally silent, the film exists in several different versions, of which this is the longest. Introducing us to the "Prelude to Prosperity are two lovely ladies outside the Chamber of Commerce on San Carlos Street in Downtown San Jose. Then we tour the orchards. Almonds, Cherries, Pears, Prunes, and others are showcased. Time-lapse photography (extremely time consuming with the 16mm on which this was made) shows us the actual blossoming of each variety. The film ends with a panorama from the Southwestern end of the valley. A part of the Pioneers Film Archive, his film was generously donated by Richard and April Bowen. Music by Philip Glass.
