This Purveyor's Story: Bennett's Honey Farm was started in the late 1970's by Red and Anne Bennett, when a swarm of bees landed in their yard. Deciding then, to allow the bees to stay and prosper, the bees produced a delicious local honey from the surrounding land. Later they acquired the Topanga Quality Honey label and the business moved to Fillmore, CA where it continues to produce a variety of distinct and flavorful honeys in their 100-percent solar-powered, kosher and organic facility. Through a unique process of gravity straining, the honey retains more flavor and nutrients that is drawn from the local flora. After retiring in 2011, the Bennetts sold their thriving business to long-time customers Chip and Taydee Vannoy who now employ many 3rd-generation beekeepers and workers from the surrounding communities to bring a high level of commitment and expertise to the business.
